NEW SIGNS AT MONUMENT MANOR NEIGHBORHOOD ENTRANCES
July 2017
As you’re probably aware, over the past few years attendance at Joshua Tree National Park has more than doubled. In addition to long lines of cars on Quail Springs Road sometimes blocking neighborhood access, we’ve seen an increase in people who are not residents, invited guests, or persons with a valid business purpose entering the neighborhood and parking, walking around on properties without permission, looking for a shortcut to the Park or fee free access to it, and camping in the Lobo Pass/Tortuga area. In order to address this issue, the Monument Manor Neighborhood Association has begun installing new signs at each neighborhood entrance off Quail Springs Road.
The signs say: Private Road, Right to Pass by Permission and Control of Owners. They also cite the applicable California Civil and Penal codes. See photo below.
While the signs will not be one hundred percent effective, it’s our hope that they will reduce the number of incidents of persons entering the neighborhood without a valid purpose or permission.
Please contact our roads committee chair, Geary Hund at gwhund@gmail.com if you have any questions.
